There is an ancient Buddhist legend about a mighty waterfall. Each day the carp in the pools below strive to leap up the dangerous waters, fighting with all their might to reach the top. They not only must fight against the fierce rush of water, they must avoid the giant eagles that try to devour them as well as the fishermen who try to catch them. But for the very few that manage to survive and reach the top, those carp are immediately transformed into the great dragons of myth, symbolizing the difficulty of ordinary people attaining the great state of Buddhahood.
